Having given up a career in exhibitions marketing to focus on bringing up her 4 children, Lucy started to feel a bit redundant once they had all entered full-time education! She decided it was time to take the plunge and fulfil her dream to pass on her passion for health and fitness and make a real difference to people's lives. In 2017, after qualifying as a Level 3 Personal Trainer with Premier Training International, this became a reality and BadgerFit was born!
Lucy has always been a keen sportswoman and has taken part in a broad range of sporting activities over the years, as well as playing netball and football at a competitive level. She is always on the lookout for a new challenge and in recent years she has focused on the fast-growing sport of obstacle course racing and was proud to represent Team UK at the 2018 & 2019 World Championships.
Lucy is a firm believer in the physical and mental benefits of exercise, particularly in the great outdoors. 'Green exercise' is proven to improve mood and self-esteem and is thus more likely to decrease stress and encourage long-term adherence to a healthy lifestyle. Lucy is also an advocate of functional training (exercises which mimic the activities of everyday life and use multiple muscle groups in all planes of movement). This has the benefit of consuming more energy than exercising muscles in isolation, as well as improving natural movement skills and enhancing general mobility.
